Snark Squad Pod #015 – Atomic Blonde with Caitlin Hofmeister

Previously: We watched Westworld and had a lot of feelings about how humans are the worst.

Sweeney: FIRST, sorry for the unplanned week off. I can assure you that nobody was more upset about it than I was, given that I was at home dying of the flu. I don’t know if it’s that this flu was exceptionally terrible or that turning 30 made my immune system go to shit, but this was the sickest I’ve gotten in a long time and I was, shall we say, NOT A FAN.

But we have returned! And this week we are talking about a movie that I excitedly added to the spreadsheet when we first started plotting and planning for this podcast because I was in love in 2017’s Atomic Blonde from the moment I saw the first trailer. Badass lady spy is a thing that I’m here for, in general, but badass bisexual cold war spy played by Charlize Theron and dripping in neon? It was a movie I didn’t know I’d been waiting for and I have probably seen the first trailer a hundred times. I have a problem.

And now for a second apology: we are only 15 episodes in and so we are still in a period of trial & error with this whole podcasting thing and I maybe fucked up a little when I was setting up the recorder for this episode. It’s not unlistenable, thankfully, but if you’re a big audiophile, I just wanted to make sure you were warned.

We are joined for this episode about a movie that I love so much by my dear friend Caitlin Hofmeister. Caitlin is the senior producer for SciShow, host of her own wonderful podcast called You’re Doing Just Fine, and all-around delightful human being who I could sit and talk to for hours about literally anything.

Hear my flailing and find out what Caitlin and Marines thought of this movie on this week’s episode of the podcast:

Nicole Sweeney (all posts)

Nicole is the co-captain of Snark Squad and these days she spends most of her time editing podcasts. She spends too much time on Twitter and very occasionally vlogs and blogs. In her day job she's a producer, editor, director, and sometimes host of educational YouTube channels. She loves travel, maps, panda gifs, and semicolons. Writing biographies stresses her out; she crowd sourced this one years ago and has been using a version of it ever since. She would like to thank Twitter for their help.
