Previously: We finished the (published) A Song of Ice & Fire novels and are no longer sweet summer children.

Sweeney: A few weeks ago I was getting drinks with my dear friend Ceri and she mentioned to me that I should really check out She-Ra. “I know you’re not a cartoon person,” she said, “but I think you’ll like this.”
When several of our other friends on Twitter joined in on singing the show’s praises, we added it to the podcast calendar, because it saved us from having to make our own choices, which is always a plus.
In spite of all that, I was honestly still a bit nervous. Avatar: The Last Airbender was the only true hit with me in all the children’s media we’ve consumed for the pod. Everything else I could look at and see varying shades of quality, but truly nothing there that I was super excited about.
To help us talk through what we were watching, we asked not only Ceri (Crash Course script editor, Monstress editorial assistant, and beacon of light on Twitter and Instagram) but also our animator friend Sam Schultz (SciShow Producer, and fellow beacon of light on Twitter and Instagram). Both are our cartoon-smart friends and they’re co-hosts of the SciShow Tangents Podcast, so if you enjoyed this episode, you should go listen to them say smart things about science.

For those of you watching and reading along, here is our planned upcoming media in the order they’ll be released: My Brilliant Friend (HBO), a book to be chosen by our patrons, and the first 5 films of Phase 3 of the MCU – Captain America: Civil War through Thor: Ragnarok. (There are two non-media-specific episodes tucked in there, too!)
