Snark Squad Pod #072 – The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

Previously: We laughed & cried at Someone Great.

Sweeney: I had a ton of fun talking about The Golden Compass and it continues to be a true joy to have long, thoughtful conversations about our favorite stories. The Discord chat for this one got a little rushed because we had a mid-month recording, but I think it all worked out ok in the end.

This book suffers from a lot of the problems that often plague middle books in a series, but still manages to have some really lovely and important moments for the series overall and it was great to get to reexamine some of my thoughts on the series.

We were joined once again by Connor O’Brien who also shares his wonderful bookish thoughts on his YouTube channel. Filling in for Sara as Actual Childhood Reader is our good friend Amanda McLoughlin who is the co-host of Spirits a boozy podcast about mythology & folklore and the founder of Multitude Productions

Nicole Sweeney

Nicole is the co-captain of Snark Squad and these days she spends most of her time editing podcasts. She spends too much time on Twitter and very occasionally vlogs and blogs. In her day job she's a producer, editor, director, and sometimes host of educational YouTube channels. She loves travel, maps, panda gifs, and semicolons. Writing biographies stresses her out; she crowd sourced this one years ago and has been using a version of it ever since. She would like to thank Twitter for their help.
