Sweeney: Once upon a time three friends found themselves on vacation at Disney World. It was their last full day of vacation, in fact, after days of magic and happiness and friendship. With their hearts full of joy, as they stood in line for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, one suggested that the Pirates franchise might make for a good podcast episode. And because they were so happy and agreeable they, well, agreed.
And this, my friends, is how I found myself burning a weekend on a somewhat arduous movie binge, staring at a lot more of a certain actor’s face than I really wanted. Fortunately, my suffering was rewarded with what I think turned out to be a fun podcast episode. There are some real highs and lows in this franchise and we talked about many of them. (We tragically forgot the true highlight of the franchise: the music! We are truly ashamed, but I’m sneaking that in here WE KNOW, WE KNOW!)
The third friend in this story is Lainey Kress, who has been on the podcast before. She’s got a YouTube channel where she talks about writing and sometimes reviews books. She also co-hosts the podcast Novel Tea about the ups and downs of publishing. Also, you can follow her on Twitter.
Also we even took this cute picture, because we were so excited about the #content we were gonna make in like 3 months.
Check out the good, the bad, and the ugly of our experience watching the Pirates franchise in 2019 on this week’s episode:
