Snark Squad Pod #071 – Someone Great (2019)

Previously: We fell in love with the women of Daisy Jones & The Six. Some dudes were there too.

Sweeney: Confession: in some earlier iteration of the schedule, this was meant to be The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, as voted on by our patrons. Unfortunately, the fates intervened and we had some last minute scheduling conflicts.

I consider it something of a tiny miracle, honestly, because we might have let this delightful Netflix movie that poses as a romcom but it’s really about a breakup but it’s REALLY about friendship. It stars Gina Rodriguez and it made it us feel some things.

As we discussed this friendship film, we were joined by two of our own friends: the always delightful Silvia from the podcast Smooch Squad, and the incredibly insightful Deboki of the wonderful booktube channel okidokiboki.

No actual show notes on this one, but this Rolling Stone review of the movie & its use of music is fun and worth sharing.

Nicole Sweeney

Nicole is the co-captain of Snark Squad and these days she spends most of her time editing podcasts. She spends too much time on Twitter and very occasionally vlogs and blogs. In her day job she's a producer, editor, director, and sometimes host of educational YouTube channels. She loves travel, maps, panda gifs, and semicolons. Writing biographies stresses her out; she crowd sourced this one years ago and has been using a version of it ever since. She would like to thank Twitter for their help.
