Segue Magic: The Test of Time

I'll start with apologize for how quiet #SegueMagic was this week. I came down with some deadly sort of throat ache that spread to my stomach and head. I honestly don't know what I came down with. Mostly, everything hurt and I spent a week in bed not eating.
I'm better-ish now, so while I couldn't lift my weary body to record a video, I can now bring you this wrap-up.
Last week on Segue Magic, we were talking about things we used to love that didn't stand the test of time:

Segue Magic: The Snark Tag

I've recently started way upping my vlogging game, mostly on Booktube and doing book reviews and such. And tags. Not a lot of tags, but still. I've done a few tags and it got me thinking that I could make up a Snark Squad themed one! So I did and I based them on the tags tags we use most frequently on the website. The questions and videos for last week are below.

Segue Magic: OMG. PROM.

It's prom season for those of our friends who have the misfortune of still being in high school. On the bright side: prom must mean you're almost done with high school!
I'm mostly kidding except for the part where I strongly disliked high school and maybe am not kidding.
Anyway, we figured we'd get in on the timely topic action and ask you all what fictional prom or school dance you'd attend and who would be your date. Check out the video responses below:

Segue Magic: Parties with Fictional Guests

Last week Wednesday, this here blog turned four years old! It's crazy to think about how much has changed in those four years, not only on the blog, but in each of our personal lives. I'm not going to get sentimental; I just thought I'd mention that bit.
Lots has changed and these past six months have been a bit of a struggle for us as we try to keep up with the million and one projects we thought we could handle. However, there is always time to stop and celebrate. We asked what five fictional characters you would invite to a party and mostly everyone was like, "lol. We don't party."

Segue Magic: Favorite Fictional Siblings

As is our yearly tradition, Sweeney and I were in California this past weekend. (I could clarify that it's her yearly tradition and I'm kind of the weird Internet friend that tags along, but this is my blog and I like to let myself look cool on it.)
Point is that this wrap-up is a wee bit late and for that I apologize. However, the videos are fantastic and there were plenty of sibling feels (and even some only-child feels...!) going around so check out last week's Segue Magic:

Segue Magic: Resurrection Stories

Hello friends! So, a couple of things happened recently:
- Easter!
- We opened Segue Magic up into a link-up style prompt for those who would be interested in responding to our prompts! Here's how it's going to work:
1. We will announce the month's topics here on this website and also over on the Goodreads group we created. And probably also on Tumblr. We want everyone to do these so we'll just about post them everywhere. Follow along in your preferred method!

The More You Know February 2015 – And January too!

When we started posting much more frequently around here, we decided that we'd use these TMYK posts to help gather all of the material we'd produced in that month and to have them serve as markers for our future selves and future readers: here's where we were at any given month, dating back to August 2012.
When we look back at January 2015, then, we're going to think, "OMG. WE DIED." Probably not, but if we did think that we wouldn't be too far from the truth.

Segue Magic: Parental torment and 1000 posts!

As promised, these Segue Magic posts will now be once a week wrap-up posts. This one is kind of a doozy because we made a little scheduling switch. Sweeney's videos will be going up on Mondays, Kirsti's on Wednesday and mine will be up on Fridays.
Since we made that switch in the middle of a topic, we have a few more videos to share with you than normal, but for the most part, these posts will only feature three four-minute videos going forward. Basically what I'm saying is, "SORRY FOR SO MUCH OF OUR FACES!"

Snark Squad Sentiments: The Fifty Shades of Grey Movie

When we finished recapping the entire Fifty Shades series, Sweeney and I decided to record vlogs discussing our feelings about the project as a whole. Sweeney put together a lovely video that remains one of my favorite things ever. I... never did it. Blame some combination of permanent trauma and lack of words. After two years of recapping this series chapter by chapter, I had very little else to say.
This is probably my punishment, then, for having flaked out on that final vlog. Yes, I went to go see the movie and yes, I have more feelings than could truly be captured during my live-Tweeting, so yes, I'm doing the movie post.

Segue Magic: Fictional Couples (Sweeney)

I'M SORRY THIS IS LATE I AM THE WORST.
I have been an absentee blogger all-around lately (again, because I am the worst) but hopefully this is a thing I can stick with? I don't know. I edit videos all day at work and I found it weirdly irritating to look at my stupid face making all these annoying mistakes that are hard to edit around. I actually stopped mid-way through last night because UGH, MY OWN FACE.

Segue Magic: Best Fictional Couples (Kirsti)

Yes, I'm gatecrashing Segue Magic now and you'll get to see my face every week. YOU'RE WELCOME, TRAUMATEERS. This isn't the first time I've gatecrashed Segue Magic. Back in 2013, I did a vlog or two over on my channel on the same topics that Mari and Sweeney were discussing on the Snark Squad channel. I just watched one of those back and PLEASE DON'T GO AND FIND THEM OH MY GOD, IT'S TERRIBLE. And largely unedited. And kind of like watching a video that was filmed with a potato.
Anyway.

Segue Magic: Favorite Fictional Couples (Marines)

Hello friends!
Firstly, thank you for being so marvelously patient as we've been figuring our way around some scheduling things recently. We're still existing in that troubling place where we want to do all the things and have all of the time constraints. However, picking up Segue Magic again was a huge priority this year because we just love making these videos and opening up the conversation to all kinds of other topics.

The More You Know 2014 – All the posts.

Hahahahaha. Spoiler alert: that was not a thing we learned in 2014.
Our continued knack for ignoring the constraints of time meant a lot of things for this previous year, but mostly it meant a hell of a lot of blogging. 2012 was the year of figuring out what we wanted this space to be, 2013 was the year of all of the ideas and 2014? 2014 will always be remembered as the year we wrote all the things.
Sweeney: That's also an accurate summary of our emails across the years. We had a lot of, "DID YOU SEE HOW MUCH STUFF WE PUBLISHED?" / "I KNOW, WEIRD." / "NO BUT REALLY, LOOK AT ALL THE POSTS!" exchanges in 2014. We (and it helped that "WE" got bigger this year) wrote all the things.

The More You Know November 2014 – Made for holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving!
First thing's first, you should know that the blog will be on Thanksgiving break from November 27-30th. I think that even those on the team who don't celebrate this American holiday are looking forward to some downtime. The rest of us are really excited about family time and food. Mmmm, food. We'll be back in full force, and probably a couple pounds heavier, on December 1st.
