Hello and welcome to the second season! We really appreciate those of you that have stuck with us this far!
Marines: I like this grand announcement as if we didn't finish season one last week. But, like, yeah. Welcome back!
Catherine: How are you guys? It's been SO long...

Today, Supergirl season 2 premieres. It's not that we were so slow and so late that the new season is lapping us, it's that we wanted to celebrate the new season with last season's finale.
Yeah.
Samantha: That sounds like something we would do. We're so considerate.
Catherine: This is correct. We planned this.

Alright so we decided to do something a little different and split up the last two episodes of Season 1 so we can open up the discussion more and make something more interesting for you guys to read.
Lol. Just kidding. We literally had to do this because we've now put off recapping the end of the season for A FULL YEAR and the new season is starting in a few days. Splitting these episodes up and taking less of each one was the only way for us to get through the last two vast wastelands of boringness that is this show.

Yaaaaaaaaay it's the Supergirl/The Flash crossover episode!!!!!! I watch The Flash, over on Supergirl's new home, The CW. I enjoy it A LOT more than Supergirl. It's my favorite currently airing tv show, even if the season 2 finale DID enrage me. ANYWAY I'M EXCITED.
Catherine: Good that you're keeping your expectations in check here, Sammy.
Samantha: Shoot for the moon!!!!! Or maybe Saturn!!!

Kara is wearing flannel over her Supergirl costume and eating a donut on the couch so that her brooding is super telegraphed. She's watching coverage of a bank robbery she tried to stop, but people are still pretty wary of her after she murdered alcohol bottles with peanuts, or whatever. (S: And wore extra cute clothes!) (C: Boo the lady with the fashion sense.)
At Cat Co, Cat is having a bad day because "Sandy Bullock" stole her exercise machine and also because National City is being slow to forgive Supergirl and the crime rate is up.

Hey guys! Yes, we are still doing Supergirl reviews even though it takes me a million years to get around to doing mine every time. BECAUSE LISTEN I HAVE A LIFE (I don't. I'm just forgetful.) (S: We <3 you though.) (C: *heart eyes*)
Anyway, I'm giving you previouslies since it's been a few weeks since we did the last episode.
Previouslies: We're reminded that Astra got bummer stabbed and died and Alex finally told Kara that she was the one that did it, Siobhan kissed Winn against all logic and reason, and Lucy broke up with Jimmy.

We open this episode in the Phantom Zone, 13 years ago. Child Kara is sleeping in her pod when it starts to shake and jerk around. Child Kara makes some interesting acting choices and it passes through a space arch metal thing. I think it's supposed to be ominous. Also, Kara was asleep for the entirety of her stay in the pod right? Since it was years?
Catherine: I guess not? She was supposed to be in stasis. I guess it's like that thing where you wake up but realize you still have a couple more hours to sleep and roll over in your spaceship.

Wow, we are really dragging our heels here. Why do we have such crappy luck with superhero shows?
Catherine: It may not be us. It may, in fact, be the networks.
Mari: That makes me feel better.
We start at the Super Pad. Kara and Alex are hanging out, but Kara just wants to go to bed. (S: CBS did not get permission to use my life. Rude.) She has to face Cat in the morning, after having dumped her son and missed work a ton. Plus, Kara says that she misses that aunt that was trying to murder her face off, Astra.

Okay so we're wayyyyyy behind on these recaps and it's 1000 percent my fault. My bffs are gonna come in here now and insist that they had a hand in stalling. (M: I had a hand in stalling!) (S: Me too!) (C: Don't listen! It was all me because busy and also blah.)
Luckily, there's a previously to remind us what happened. Winn kissed Kara, Kara's parents died, aliens attacked Maxwell Carlisle's adult video store and comic book emporium. (S: Lolol.)

This episode begins Three Months Ago at Lord Technologies. Carlisle Lord enters his creepy room where he's creepily keeping the Jane Doe. A doctor is looking her over and Carlisle Maxwell strokes her hair, like a creep. Did you know that I find this creepy? (M: Only because I'm good at subtext.) He hits a button and black liquid flows through her IV, while anxious espionage music plays. She starts coughing and seizing and then her eyes open, black, as we've seen them before. Then Maxwell Carlisle does the "She's alive!" Dr. Frankenstein bit.
Our exposition-on-the-fly this episode is really Kara reading a letter from Cat to her estranged son, basically being like, "sorry I wasn't a parent." While that voice over plays, Supergirl saves a family stuck in a camper from a forest fire. Because FAMILY.
Catherine: At first I actually thought her 'sorry I neglected you' letter was about the earth. Like, 'sorry I wasn't saving you quicker' and I was like, huh, this is cool. But no. And now I'm not sure why I went there.
Mari: They should hire you.

Since we're so late on posting this, I'll let you all know that in the previouslies we're reminded that Jimmy thinks Maxwell Carlisle is planning a counter-move against the Kryptonians, Astra is still evil, and Winn is still a garbage dick. Oh, and Hank is Martian Manhunter.
I honestly can't remember if any of this is even relevant to the episode but only because this episode sucked so much that I immediately blocked it out after I was done watching.

The episode picks up right where the last episode ended. Supergirl and Non go busting through the ceiling of Lord Technologies and begin to duke it out in the sky. They're briefly interrupted by an airplane RUDELY flying in the middle of their fight but they carry on by smashing into the ground. Non has Supergirl in a chokehold and tells Supergirl that she's as weak as any human. Hank comes out with a blaster gun thing and Non drops Kara to go after Hank. Is this a good time to ask what they wanted with Lord Technologies in the first place?
